Joann was born on the west side of Chicago on March 29, 1962 to Adella Campbell and Joe Haywood.
Joann was baptized by Rev. Milton Brunson at Christ Tabernacle M.B. Church at an early age. She was a member of the West Calvery M.B. Church, where Rev.
David McCall encouraged her, so she attended the Earl Bedford School of Music, playing the piano and organ. With a strong voice, she played and sang for friends and churches like West Calvary, New Bethlehem, New Morning Star, etc. She also mastered drums and the French Horn. Her favorite songs were
“Amazing Grace Shall Always Be My Song of Praise” and “Going Up Yonder.”
She liked Motown, Natalie, Aretha and the Brown Brothers.
Joann attended Marconi, Morse and Morton. She was a graduate of Westinghouse, her major was Cosmetology. She won many awards for hair styles, sometimes I st and 2nd prize.
Joann’s father, Joseph Haywood and brother, Harry David both preceded her in death.
She Leaves to cherish: Mother, Adella Campbell; Sister, Felicia Peterson; Brother, Adam L Campbell (Teresa); Daughter, Christina Tanner; Son, Valejo Johnson;
Grandchildren Achaia, Christopher and Dameon Tanner; Nephews Shawntell and Brandon Campbell; a host of Aunts and Uncles, and cousins; her God Family that helped raise her Gertrude, Terence, Lois Westbrook and Theresa Anderson; The Washington’s, Haywoods and Turners.
Joann’s favorite love in life was road trips and doing memorial rides with the Midnight Riders Motorcycle Club.
